School of Thought We at Living Stone, consider it, a challenge to derive practical solutions to our entrusted tasks from within the constrains like Space, Budget, Location ,Materials etc. while giving free rein to creativity. We focus on delivering designs that are functional, yet not compromising on aesthetics. They are also a reflection of our holistic approach towards culture & tradition. In plain language, this means that we believe in a practice based on creative ,flexible ,sensible and economically sound solutions to give ‘FEELING’ to the built environment.

The Team

Our team We are a team of committed people, devoted to providing quality architectural services. The gift of imagination and the flair to perceive the unexpressed needs of the clients are our forte. This together with our ability to source the best and cost effective materials by way of our long association with local suppliers, & the application of innovative techniques along with its manpower viz. consultants, contractors and skilled craftsmen adds to our versatility. Our approach stems from a concern for people, how they will use and enjoy the buildings we create and hence we as a team, are dedicated to improving the society through our subtle concepts.

Principal Architect

Our senior architect and founding member, THOMAS KURUVILLA, is a class-I graduate in B.Arch, from the 1991 batch of the Shivaji University in Maharashtra. Principal Architect During his course of study, he had the opportunity to work with Zachariah & Thomas, one of the leading Architects in Bangalore, as a trainee and also with Philip Mathew & Associates, Kottayam, Kerala.

Upon graduation, he joined Irani Architects in Bombay and earned valuable exposure as an associate Architect. While there, he was placed in charge of a holiday home project at Lonavala, for the Ruias of Essar Group. During his career in Bombay, he executed some freelance assignments, out of which, one was a bungalow at Nairobi, Kenya.

He then shifted to his hometown Kochi and began a partnership firm with an Architect from Bombay, under the name REFUGE. A few years later, the partnership was called off and he joined Architect Sajan Pulimood and then Design Combine in Kochi. In 1997, he decided to branch off and set up independent practice. The firm Living Stone Architects was thus formed.


Merits & Achievements

  • Was a Delegate for NASA at Chennai, Mumbai and Manipal.
  • Top ranked in the subject ‘Design’ in the final year of B.Arch.
  • While still in first year, his design was selected for a public exhibition.
  • Won the 2nd prize, in a state wide competition for designing a church.
  • An associate of Indian Institute of Architects and a Member of Council of Architects.
